CU Medicine New Provider Orientation

Created: 08/28/2012 | Updated:
All faculty members that bill clinical activities through University of Colorado Medicine must attend a mandatory orientation session conducted by the Audit & Education Department. When new providers are hired, their respective departments must notify the Audit & Education Department to schedule a session. The e-mail address for the Audit & Education Department is: acecredentialing@cumedicine.us.

Topics covered during the orientation will include documentation requirements for 3rd party payers, CPT and ICD-9 requirements per the provider's specialties, and an overview of the Teaching Physician Rules. Providers will be asked to sign CU Medicine Member Practice Agreements at this time and applications for Medicare, Colorado Medicaid, and some out of state Medicaid carriers. The providers will receive their CU Medicine billing numbers after signing their paperwork.

The sessions are held on a weekly or biweekly basis and last approximately 2 hours. Providers will need to follow up with their department administrators to ensure that the Audit & Education Department has been notified so a training session can be scheduled in a timely manner.
